I keep talking about Vitamin D with my patients. About to be re-classified as a pro-hormone, Vitamin D is the vitamin we get from sunshine. Doctors are saying take 2,000 mg in the winter months, but some weight loss specialists are saying to take even more. Up to 4,000 mg. Now a recent study from the University of Minnesota, found that vitamin D levels may actually be a factor in a persons ability to lose weight.
Lead researcher, Dr. Shalamar Sibley, suggests that when people start out with an inadequate vitamin D level, it’s possible that this might inhibit or impede their ability to lose weight on a low calorie diet.
I am also seeing a correlation with libido and vitamin D. It’s easy to take a pill. And soon it will be easy to get some more (healthy) sun.
